Lesson 36

Your lesson notes

  • Color all of notes of the same kind in the same color on the sheet music for lesson 36
    (You can use crayons, dot markers or even dot stickers in different colors)
  • Look for the new notes on the piano together with colorful pompoms, gems or labeled popsicle sticks 
  • Left Hand finger number 1 (thumb) goes on G which means that our pinky will be on the lower (new) C note now
  • Practice the new exercises on the piano and repeat as often as needed

Your lesson notes

  • Label 5 new paper cups with the letters G, F, E, D, C and play the new Cup Game
    (You could add the previous Cup Game from unit 2 to make it a little more challenging)
  • Practice only the right hand notes first for the new song ‘Alouette’ and the only the notes played by the left hand 
  • Remember our left hand goes into our new ‘lower C hand position’
    (Our finger number 5 goes on the new lower C)
  • Have fun performing ‘Alouette’ ! 🙂

  • Label 5 wooden blocks or Lego pieces with the letters C, D, E, F and G
  • If your little maestro enjoys coloring you could color all notes of the same kind in the same color on our new practice cards – labeled dot stickers work great as well
  • Place the right labeled wooden blocks next to each ‘Interval Card’
  • Practice the ‘Interval Cards’ on the piano and remember that our left hand finger number 5 starts from the new lowe C 
  • Practice the lesson 36 exercises or repeat performing ‘Alouette’ from lesson 37

  • Use the labeled wooden blocks or lego pieces to talk about the left hand notes for ‘Mary Had A Little Lamb’
  • Practice only the notes played by the left hand and then only the notes played by the right hand 
  • If needed connect the notes that have to be played at the same time or highlight them with stamps or stickers
  • Have fun performing ‘Mary Had A Little Lamb’ with two hands playing at the same time!

  • Work through our new set of flashcards together with either clothespins or gems
    (You could add the previous flashcards sets from Unit2 to make this more challenging) 
  • Look for the notes of each flashcard on the piano together and play them 
  • Practice the new song ‘Au Clair De La Lune’ together and make sure to practice only the left hand first 
  • Point out that our left hand will have to shift into the other hand position (closer to middle C)  
  • Have fun performing ‘Au Clair De La Lune’ together

  • Use the new composing cards to look for the notes on the piano together
    (You could color code the notes on the cards too if needed) 
  • Compose short little tunes with the new composing cards and add the composing cards from unit 2 if you would like to make it more challenging
  • Practice only the notes played by the right hand first and make sure that our finger number 4 will have to go on G instead of F
  • For the last note (middle C) we will have to shift our thumb down
  • Have fun performing ‘Rain, Rain Go Away’ together !

  • Highlight the eighth notes together with stamps, stickers or colorful pencils
  • Clap the rhythm first if needed

  • Point out that both hands play the same notes just in different octaves 
    (Left Hand plays on a lowe set of C-G) and that both hands need to shift one up for the A notes)
  • Highlight the eighth (shorter, faster) notes that have to be played by both hands
  • Have fun performing the new version of the ABC song together!
